Howard Leight launches an energised version of the Bilsom 303 earplug
2009-02-27

Howard Leight® has energised its well-known Bilsom® 303 single-use
earplug, increasing its level of personal comfort, fit and performance.
This enhanced design will be available to all customers starting in
September 2008.
Since 1994, the Bilsom 303 single-use earplug
has become an icon of European hearing protection, satifying millions
of wearers with its original design. Now under the Howard Leight brand
umbrella, the Bilsom 303 has been enhanced to fit better in the ear
canal and increase in-ear comfort over long periods of time.
Incorporating a patented technology and Howard Leight’s legacy of
manufacturing excellence, these enhancements represent a significant
evolution for the Bilsom 303 earplug.
Leight Stripe™ for a total comfort and visibility
The
Bilsom 303 earplug’s unique foam formulation delivers both in-ear
comfort and visibility with the introduction of the Leight Stripe™: The
skilled blend of yellow and white polyurethane feels softer both in
hand and ear. Its patented polyurethane foam blend expands gently,
eliminating tightness in the ear canal and provides a better,
comfortable seal with less pressure expansion. Its distinct yellow end
is highly visible outside the ear canal for compliance checks.
The
Bilsom 303 earplug is dedicated to various professional fields:
pharmaceutical and plastics industries, forestry, construction,
assembly work, and heavy industries.
Easy insertion and personalized fitting
Traditional
bullet-shaped foam earplugs tend to back out of the ear canal due to
fast foam expansion during insertion. Using Howard Leight’s material
science expertise, the energised Bilsom 303’s new polyurethane foam
formulation is easier to roll-down. Once inserted properly, Bilsom 303
resists from backing out of the ear canal, ensuring an optimal
protection. Its smooth, soil-resistant skin prevents the build-up of
dirt on the earplug, improving upon proper hygiene. Moreover, two sizes
(large and small) are available to ensure a personalized fit for each
user, and to optimize attenuation performance (SNR 33) in medium and
high noise environments.
Packaging options for excellent convenience
Bilsom
303 is available in a wide variety of attractive packaging options
designed to improve earplug accessibility in noisy areas. While corded
and uncorded styles are ideal for every environment, uncorded Bilsom
303 earplugs are also available in Leight® Source 100, 400 and 500
earplug dispensers improving access to hearing protection, decreasing
packaging waste and lowering overall annual hearing protection costs by
up to an 10%.
From its beginning as a one-man operation more
than 30 years ago, Howard Leight has grown into one of the largest
global manufacturers of hearing protectors in the industrial market and
the recognized innovator in protection and people-oriented fit. Howard
Leight offers the widest variety of earplugs and bands, ranging from
the highest attenuating Max® single-use earplug, to SmartFit's®
