Launch of a new range of disposable masks: Sperian combines safety and high visibility
2009-03-06

European leader in the personal protective equipment market, Sperian
has just launched a new innovative range of disposable masks. While
guaranteeing total respiratory protection, the high visibility masks
considerably increase the safety of the user thanks to their
fluorescent properties.
Always attentive to its customers and
users, Sperian has innovated and launched its new high visibility
range: single-use masks which associate high respiratory protection and
excellent visibility for the user in light or dark environments thanks
to their unbeatable fluorescent properties.
A comprehensive range combining safety and comfort
The fluorescent yellow high visibility masks are available in the following two ranges:
- Sperian High Visibility 5000 Series
- Sperian High Visibility SuperOne
The
top-of-the-range High Visibility 5000 Series has, in addition to its
reflective qualities, several advantages for the user: a pre-formed
nose bridge for individual adjustments, three sizes of mask to fit
everyone, a soft "Willtech" seal with absorbent properties and an
exclusively designed exhalation valve for greater breathing comfort.
Two range models (5221 and 5321) are fitted with adjustable straps so
that the mask can be better adjusted to the face and a complete face
seal which ensures optimal leak tightness and comfort.
The High
Visibility 5000 Series also pass the dolomite dust clogging resistance
test and provide the user with excellent respiratory comfort while
reducing the sensation of tiredness over time.
For users looking
for a cost-effective solution, the SuperOne range also comprises high
visibility masks. Thanks to their ergonomic design without a nose
bridge, the SuperOne masks fit all faces and provide optimal leak
tightness as well as an excellent field of vision.
To avoid any risk of an allergy, the respiratory masks do not contain either PVC, latex, or silicone.
Sperian, its South African distributor and a large mining group: a winning team!
In
2006, in partnership with its local distributor, Sperian was approached
by a large mining group with a significant presence in South Africa
which could not find a solution good enough to improve the visibility
of its employees working in the mines, which by their very nature are
poorly lit environments. Sperian's R&D department therefore
designed a new high visibility mask which fully met these customer's
needs. A fluorescent material was developed to offer, in addition to
the respiratory protection required, high performance visibility both
during the day and at night.
An ideal range for all kinds of environment
Recommended
for the building and public works, road maintenance and mining sectors,
the high visibility single-use masks cover various needs. There are in
fact many sectors in which workers must ensure that they are safe
whether during the day or at night. The high visibility masks have been
designed to maximise the visibility of their users in poorly lit
environments, and reduced visibility and foggy conditions. In emergency
situations the high visibility masks also let supervisors immediately
see whether the users have a suitable level of protection.
Improved visibility for 95% of those
questioned by the IFTH!
The
French Institute for Textiles and Clothing (IFTH) carried out
comparative tests with a panel of 20 individuals situated 15 metres and
then 25 metres away:
- one wore a high visibility* mask
- the other wore a standard white mask
Three environments were tested under low and strong light conditions.
Result: 95% of those questioned said that the high visibility masks were more visible than the white masks.
*The
high visibility range meets the criteria on colour and reflection
required by standard EN471 (standard on high visibility in the
professional clothing sector).
