Timberland PRO®, renowned for its high quality footwear and protective clothing, is addressing the growing needs of women working in tough environments. After launching a special footwear line last year, Timberland PRO is following through with a full range of exclusive clothing designed to meet the special needs of women working in harsh environments.

Three key products in new Timberland PRO® women’s clothing line

Combining innovation and protection, the new products in the range are specially designed for the female form, to afford users ease of movement in their everyday activities. With their strong emphasis on functionality, they hold great appeal to professional users, for whom practicality is a priority.

The Timberland PRO® 127 Softshell Jacket is designed for all kinds of outdoor and indoor activity. This close-fitting jacket has many advantages as the four-way stretch fabric (made with polyamide and spandex) adapts to all body forms, and its neat, fashion-conscious styling lends a touch of elegance. It is water-repellent, and resistant to wind and cold, for optimal protection and comfort under outdoor conditions. It also converts easily into a waistcoat, by removing the sleeves, perfect for all-season wearability. Additionally, its numerous pockets provide handy functionality and it is available in black.

The lightweight, ergonomic, functional Timberland PRO® 617 trousers ensure unrestricted movement for women at work. They have five pockets and an elastic waistband that provides a good fit for all body shapes, including mothers-to-be. The strong and stretchy material prevents the infiltration of dust and the trousers are available in dark black.

The Timberland PRO®  333 women’s T-shirt is a cotton elastane T-shirt that ensures comfort and freedom of movement without sacrificing smart feminine styling. It comes in dark black or vintage blue.

More women in transport, industry, construction and logistics

The development of the women’s protective clothing range comes in response to recent employment trends. Some 1.5 million additional women have entered the job market, and the proportion of women is steadily rising in many sectors —such as transport, industry, construction and logistics— previously considered typically male.

For example, according to figures from the French Construction Federation, the proportion of women in this sector had reached 10% by 2007 across all trades, including traditionally male-only jobs such as crane-driving, bricklaying, tiling, electrical fitting and painting. By the end of 2009, the Federation estimates that the number of women in construction site and workshop jobs will have risen from 10,000 to 30,000. This trend is expected to be replicated in the UK.
